Our Commitment

Nuclear MOTD is committed to making our service accessible to everyone, including people with disabilities. We strive to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA for our web platform and the equivalent accessibility standards for our Android and iOS apps. We are actively working to identify and address accessibility gaps across all platforms.

✓ Semantic HTML with <header>, <main>, and heading hierarchy on most pages
✓ Form labels properly associated with all input controls on account and profile pages
✓ Sufficient colour contrast on primary text and UI elements
✓ Most links use descriptive text (not "click here")
✓ Native HTML button and form elements used throughout (not custom div-based controls)
✓ QR code images (MFA setup) include alt text
✓ Focus ring styles present on interactive elements in most areas

✓ Skip to main content link added to all pages
✓ ARIA labels added to all icon-only buttons (close, dismiss, filter controls)
✓ Live region announcements (aria-live) added to toast notifications and dynamic status messages
✓ Search input and category filter on the messages page now have accessible labels
✓ Modal dialogs now include role="dialog", aria-modal, focus trapping, and Escape key dismissal
✓ MFA setup flow now announces step transitions to screen readers and moves focus between steps

Known limitations we are addressing

Remaining icon-only controls

A small number of icon-only controls in less-visited admin pages may still be missing labels. We are conducting a full audit of admin interfaces.

Mobile Apps (Android & iOS)

What works well

✓ Built on Flutter Material widgets, which include baseline accessibility support
✓ All form fields (login, sign up, preferences) have visible labels
✓ Error states use colour, icon, and text together (not colour alone)
✓ Tooltips on interactive icon buttons (refresh, search, share, bookmark)
✓ Keyboard form navigation using textInputAction (Next / Done)
✓ Dark mode support — text colours adapt to system brightness preference
✓ Device safe area (notches, status bar) respected on all screens
✓ Confirmation dialogs shown before destructive actions (e.g., clearing bookmarks)

Recently resolved

✓ Unread message count now announced by TalkBack and VoiceOver via live region
✓ All icon-only buttons (refresh, edit profile, cancel, search clear, back) now have accessible labels
✓ Share and bookmark-remove buttons enlarged to 48×48dp minimum touch target
✓ Day-selector buttons on the schedule screen enlarged to 48×48dp with selected/unselected state announced
✓ Decorative empty-state and error icons excluded from screen reader traversal
✓ Secondary text colour upgraded to pass WCAG AA contrast (4.5:1) across messages, bookmarks, search, and auth screens
✓ Screen names announced to screen readers on navigation (Home, Messages, Profile) and when switching bottom navigation tabs
✓ Text scaling: Flutter's built-in text scaling honours the device's font size setting on all screens — no overrides in place

Formal audit pending

Accessibility has been assessed through self-evaluation. A formal third-party audit has not yet been conducted. Some issues may remain undetected.
